Planet »   Our living environment has come increasingly under threat from human activities. A global call to protect the planet has not adequately been met, which was underlined by the poor results of the Copenhagen Climate Summit. Araliya Foundation recognizes the importance of a balance between people's living space and the wellbeing of the environment, both today and in the future.   AWARENESS & EDUCATION   One of our core fields of activities in the area 'Planet' consists of awareness raising and education. In order to protect their direct living environment, people need to be aware about the harms & potential protective actions that exist, as well as the dangers it involves for themselves and their families. Knowing, information, and understanding are a first step towards sustainable action. In order to reach different, non-mainstream groups in society, Araliya Foundation seeks a tailor-made approach in all of its projects. Target groups that receive special attention are: Migrant families and (ethnic) minorities; Elderly people; children and youth; Families living with limited economic means; Students (not limited to university level);   We strongly believe in the value of peer-to-peer education, and seek to identify potential community- or group leaders through our projects, who can help sustain the project impact and serve as a point of communication between Araliya Foundation and the community / group they represent.     CORE FIELDS OF ACTION:   Under the pillar for Planet, there are various fields of action which Araliya Foundation supports. These include, but are not limited to, the following:   Waste and garbage; Environment and Health; Living with water; Engergy savers; Awareness & education; Nature & wildlife;   Araliya Foundation seeks to support projects in these fields in particular, but will always consider proposals when deemed original, and justified based on needs and demand (proven by an assessment).
