Peace »

Peace is one of the core areas of Araliya Foundation. The theme of peace is interpreted in a broad sense, encompassing the following areas in particular:

  • peacebuilding;
  • mutual respect and understanding;
  • fostering inter-ethnic dialogue and cooperation;
  • awareness raising and advocacy in the field of human rights, reconciliation, and other themes related to peace;
  • Fostering understanding, mutual respect and understanding among immigrants and citizens in Western European countries;

WESTERN EUROPE

Apart from its regular programme on international development cooperation and peace, Araliya Foundation has a keen interest in fostering understanding between different population groups in Western European societies.

We seek a grassroots approach to combat polarization and radicalisation by informing and sharing cultures and perspectives among neighbours and population groups by emphasizing  common grounds and interests. Especially active in the following areas:

  • Changing societies: immigrants, integration and participation;
  • Friendship initiative in neighbourhoods;
  • Multi-religious society: stimulating the acceptance of religion as part of the visible, public realm, as a non-threatening factor in the Netherlands.

POST-CONFLICT SOCIETIES

In post-conflict societies, such as Kosovo and Sri lanka, we are also contributing to peace building efforts of local organisations.

In particular in Kosovo, the divided city of Mitrovica receives special attention in civil society efforts for sustainable peace and living together initiatives. We work closely together with local partner organisations, and have in-house local expertise in the subject area.

We encourage Netherlands-based organisations who wish to work in Kosovo (Mitrovica) to contact us for information and partnership possibilities.
